Well the issues been up for about a day and I just wanted to thank everyone for coming by and taking a peak.
There were some download problems but they are sorted now, notes on the buying page will help with any problems you may have with gumroad.
Also wanted to say Welcome! to new followers of the game who are showing an interest.
We're glad to have you visit the site and hope to keep putting out more for you all.
As always big thanks to +kreg Mosier for helping to get the word out as always, as well as some fine art for the issue, just fire me an email at the spookyroomproductions@gmail.com address with your address so that I can send over a free issue.
Same to +Adam Muszkiewicz , your wizards were a fine addition to the book and send me an email with your address to send of your free copy too.
To everyone else, dig into the game! Make it your own, make some demonboards, throw together some lairs, raid the toy box for soldiers and monsters. We've got demons now and we're not afraid to use em!
And what's up for me? Finally getting around to running my own game again. I've got players lined up and ready to go so hopefully we'll be on to regular games once again!
Here on the site I'll be posting some more fun stuff as we ramp up to issue 5. Where Demonlords get some templates, tips and other stuff for making Lairs.
But done't wait till then, start scribblin today, and I definately want to see your Lairs. And your Demon boards, and toys.
Let's have some fun while we get the next issue going since We're officially in the Halloween season now. Let's get some spooky games of Lair going with some ghosts and goblins, demons and wizards!
Rock on, in a majestically spooky fashion!

Sorcery Update
The unstoppable juggernaut that is the Sorcery issue barrels ahead of all expectations!
There still so much to do but the actual putting words on paper in pretty ways part of the book is plowing right along.
The soundtrack is falling a little behind but at least something should be in the issue by the time it goes to press.
Blame Skyrim, my poor Argonian aint gonna level up all by itself! Speaking of Skyrim, damn that Aetherium crap, I go through all that for an item I am almost certainly going to sell at the first opportunity! Great quest line though, don't regret it a bit.
After Sorcery I'm jumping right into the next issue on how to write up lairs and stories. I've got all the actual content and rules etc finished for that, I"m just working on how I'm going to present it and whether or not I'm going to be using the burrower for that one or if I'll be using the newer storyline I have cooked up for the players.
I'm pretty sure burrower is going to be presented as a fairly quickly thrown together seperate pdf of it's own but we'll see how the future shakes out.
This also means that it's last chance for any of you wanting to get any music in for the first LoSS soundtrack going out with the Sorcery issue. If it's kickass it's welcomed. I don't need the full rights or anything but any songs submitted will be built into the Sorcery issue Pdf for all time.
I've also begun to hear rumblings from one of the players about writing up some alternative rules for combat and magic for LoSS. If they ever arrive then you'll see them here on the site or in a future issue.
Speaking of the future of the game, with Sorcery in the bag and the Lair issue of LoSS close behind I'm hoping that the core of the LoSS game will be complete this year.
Who knew Lair, from it's humble beginnings, would find fans across the world. Even if they're now playing LoSS itself I'd like to hope that a little of the spirit of Kartharka is working it's way into their games.
I couldn't have predicted a year ago that people would send me a picture of a Wizard and that it would make me so damn happy! Two years ago I was pretty much completely done with roleplaying, especially fantasy roleplaying. But what I've found is that I wasn't sick of the games. I was tired of the attitude of the genre in general.
This "been there, done that" attitude that was sucking the fun right out of the whole thing. Yes us old fogeys have indeed slain some dragons and gotten some loot. Then we "grew up" to more adult stories and games. And for some reason couldn't understand why we weren't having fun anymore. It's because complex, grown up, responsible gaming isn't always the funnest thing.
Sometimes you want your hero to save the village by sneaking into the castle and putting an axe in the Ogre. No matter how many ogres you slay, no matter how many maidens you save, and no matter how many piles of gold you get, if you're having fun with your friends don't force yourself to grow up in your gaming.
If you're sick of killing dragons, take on that liche, if you're tired of saving maidens, well...let them save themselves for once.
So for all the fans of Lair, just get out there and throw a fireball right in the middle of the room and be damned with the consequences. Just let your friends get out of the way first, don't be a dick about it...

Sorcery Cover Arrives
Click for large view
Sorcery Cover!
The long awaited Sorcery issue is officially in Layout! Here is the cover with the great new LoSS logo for the game.
Also you can see the magazine is switching to a letter size format. The comic format served LoSS well for the past year but a letter size format is far more suitable for the game as it exists today.
The letter size format is easier to print for those that download the pdf and is easier for me to print and ship as well as I can fit more content per page.
I hope you all enjoy it and keep your eyes out for more content as the it goes through layout.

Lair music and cover
Sorcery issue is deep in Layout at the moment with the cover gettting coloured as we speak.
Format changes and layout changes mean I can't use my good old (but not so good) template.
What with all the stuff going in and on this issue I'm shooting for a Halloween release for the Sorcery issue.
Soon behind that will be the issue detailing how to set up lairs with tips on balancing encounters, the lair and story templates, and how to use them.
There may or may not be a sample lair in that one.
Also Haven't posted many new lairs for you all on the Website and I'm sorry for that. Unfortunately that apology does not come with a Lair.
Work officially began with track 1, take one, of the Lair soundtrack.
Roll 20 still has not happened here at the homestead but we are getting part of the gang together for boardgames so Lair might happen tonight, but more likely we'll be playing a lot of short euros and card games.
That's it for today folks, no new fun stuff but if you haven't checked them out yet the lair issue can all be downloaded in pay-what you want pdfs now, just head to the "Buy Lair Online" button on the left of the site.
If you haven't seen any of the free Lairs they can be found by following the link on the right of the site.
Have a great weekend everybody, back to work for me.

+Ripleys tuckered out!
Ok Bloodreavers! Getting off the art train, all the actuall "drawing" is done (cept the cover, damn covers...) now into magical computer land for coloring and design and all that fun stuff.
Some of you may have noticed that the zine went digital recently with pdf downloads available on Gumroad.
This meant that some of the interior pics got to be viewed in colour for the first time since the print copies are all in black and white. With this next issue the whole thing will be in full glorious colour for viewing goodness. Also in the pdf will be a black and white version for printing and a low ink version for printing so all your bases should be covered.
The print copy will still be in black and white, cept for the usual colour cover.
There are a few other changes coming in the Sorcery issue but the art is looking tight, layout should be good and if the damned cover doesn't sink it's claws into me like some kind of horrible beast you should be seeing the sorcery issue in a Winterland month.
Winterland time and real life time conversion charts not available at this time.
So rock on everyone, keep your swords pointed to the sky when running or your friends could get hurt.

Oh so quiet...
Again not dead yet, just wrapping hitting the art train hard for the sorcery issue.
The format of the magazine took a hard left turn on me unexpectedly but it's going to be a far better magazine format, you'll have to wait and see for more details...

Still not dead, game on tomorrow!
Good news everyone. Still not dead.
Almost done working on someone else's comic so will be circling back to Lair in time to get the Sorcery issue out.
I'm hoping to have enough time to finish the sorcery issue (no longer forked, sorry the material didn't support it) and the Demon Lord issue out in time to celebrate 1 year of Lair!
Sorry guys but the both the Sorcery and Demonlord issue will be DemonLord material only.
I hope to have those done for the anniversary as I consider issues 1-5 to be the "core" material of Lair which together will form the base of the Lair Adventure Game.
There's still lots more to publish but after the core the issue will be swinging around on to the grand tour of Kartharka with brief stops in the other lands of Kartharka and their contents.
And of course in usual life fashion, after announcing I will be running the game online from now on an entire contingent of players from the past banded together and drafted me into running Lair in real life, with real people and minis. So game on tomorrow (saturday) at noon for all of you who are already in the inner circle.
Rock on Crazy Blood Reavers!

Not dead...
Just a quick note that I'm not dead and neither is the Sorcery issue. I just got drafted to colour, letter and layout a comic before the end of the month so with deadlines and all things have been kinda quiet here on the Lair front. Sorry bout that.
I'm also going to be working on my home campaign as soon as I'm done the comic so it may be a little light on updates here.
Good news though,(to some I guess) is that due to scheduling, life, blah blah blah, my home game is switching to an online game just to get some action in, both myself and my players are just too crazy busy to play a traditional game going to peoples houses and such.
I'll make announcements when the time comes as yes indeed their will be plenty of slots open as I envision a bit of a revolving door party knowing my players.
So yeah, not dead.

Sorcery Issue Written! (send more ar
The Sorcery issue is written!
Sorry about the wait everyone, took a little time away from hard rules writing to work on all the fiddly and fun bits of the game.
Back on track now.
The issue is entering the artwork stage now.
It's looking like there is alot (I mean alot) of text in this one. it's going to be a long issue. So while there won't be alot of the full page or half page illustrations there will be a ton of spots open for the little pics.
So if anyone wants to draw some little pics, some little demons, sorcerous amulets and wands, spirits and ghosts now's the time to get started.
There will probably be a few spots for some half pages available still but they will be few.
Also if anyone is willing to go full colour go for it. It'll be printed in black and white in the book but might be used on the site in colour or might even end up on the cover if it's truly Rocking!
I've off to go art it up myself so see you all soon!

We're on the geek
RPGGeek...
Lair is now on RPGGeek. The constant efforts of +Raymond Saulnier have finally payed off and it now has a listing. (Thanks Raymond for the mighty rpggeek-fu to get it up there) I still need to go in and populate the listings with more info, pics etc but it's finally there. If any fans of Lair want to head over and post some reviews or ratings then it would be much appreciated.Saturday, 13 June 2015

Weekend update/ announcing Lair Chapbooks
Sorcery monograph cover in progress
Weekend Update.Mini Lairs
I should have another quickie Lair made up before the end of the weekend "The Warlord", which sees the heroes being captured and enslaved by one of those upstart princelings trying to carve out a petty kingdom.
Hopefully these are quenching your thirst for Kartharkan content for the time being till the next big issue. The Veteran issue was such a monster that I have to step back from these massive issues for awhile. But luckily that means more free content for all the Demonlords out there.
